Conservation Law Foundation and Greenroots, Inc. v. Energy Facilities Siting Board (Mass. SJC No. SJC-13521)
On April 15, 2024, the Clinic filed an amicus brief on behalf of the Union of Concerned Scientists in a case challenging a Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board decision to grant a certificate authorizing construction of an electrical substation in Eagle Hill, Boston, an environmental justice community. The Clinic’s brief discussed the importance of centering environmental and energy justice in the Commonwealth and highlighted the recent passage of the “Roadmap Act,” which codifies the Commonwealth’s commitment to environmental justice principles. The brief also explained why the Eagle Hill community deserved the Roadmap Act’s full protections and highlighted opportunities for future improvements in Siting Board proceedings.
